Android and web portal
Loans and rentals
With Pro, track borrowers, bookings and returns.
Where to start
Android: Home Site Area (optional) Thing Loans and rentals
Web portal: Things Thing Loans and rentals
Loan or rent out
- Open a Thing and choose Loan / rent out beside Move to another location, or open its Loans and rentals section. The web tab is the last Thing tab. Changing status to On loan opens the same entry screen.
Dates, quantities and contacts
- Enter the quantity and borrower or renter. Choose Add new contact to create and link a contact, or select an existing suggestion.
- Expected return date is optional. Without it, the quantity remains unavailable until returned.
- Tick Rental to show the rental amount, paid flag and paid date.
- Loans without a return date stay in All loans and Current loans reports, marked No expected return date. They are not overdue.
Future reservations
- Tick Reserved and enter the collection and expected return dates. Availability is checked across every whole day in the booking, including the return day. The next reservation can start the following day. Reservations do not mark the Thing On loan until you choose Hand over. An overdue loan continues to occupy its outstanding quantity until it is returned.
Reuse the last rental
- If the Thing has been rented before, buttons show its last rental amount and duration. Choose either button to copy that value. Duration sets an expected return date from the new start date; neither value is copied automatically.
Return a loan or rental
- Choose Return loan / rental, select the loan and record the return quantity, actual date, notes and photos or documents. Partial returns leave the remaining quantity on loan. When everything is returned, the record moves to Previous loans. Changing status to Active asks whether this is a return from the named borrower.
Loan/rental report
Android: Home Menu Reports Loan/rental report
Web portal: Loan/rental report
Print loan/rental sheet
- From a loan, choose Print loan/rental sheet to prepare a one-page handover sheet with Thing and rental details, an optional main photo and spaces for borrower and owner signatures and a date. Long notes are shortened to keep the sheet on one page.
Keep your inventory safe
- Return or cancel outstanding bookings before selling, disposing of or deleting a Thing. Loan history and attachments sync with the household and are included in encrypted backups. Move a Thing with loan history as a complete separate record. Loan fields cannot be customised.
History and calendar
- Current and previous loans are shown in date order. Total rental amount includes current and completed rentals, including unpaid amounts; cancelled bookings are excluded.
- On the web, choose Month or Year in Loan calendar. Hover over a date, focus it with the keyboard or select it to see the booking details.
- Collections and expected returns appear in Reminders. A loan without an expected return date has no return reminder. Returning or cancelling a loan removes the relevant reminders.
